The Department of Athletic Training & Occupational Therapy offers a sports medicine emphasis in 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program, which allows you to earn your bachelor's degree in three academic areas. As a student in the sports medicine emphasis, you’ll learn the causes, prevention, and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses while varying your degree in two other disciplines.

  • The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program consists of three academic areas of emphasis.

  •  The minimum credit requirement for each emphasis is 18 semester hours, however, some departments require more credit hours.

  • All Weber State graduation requirements must be met including: general education, 120 credit hours, and 40 upper division credit hours.

  • The BIS degree best fits students who have developed a sense of their educational and life goals; and who are looking for ways to explore those goals through an individualized, inquiry-based program.

  • Sports Medicine Emphasis (option 1)


    This course of study is recommended for students who have chosen Exercise Science as one of their three areas of emphasis.

      ZOOL 2320: Human Anatomy (4) & ZOOL 2420 LS: Human Physiology (4)
    • RHS 2175: Introduction to  Sports Medicine (3)
      -OR- RHS 3200: Psychology of Sport, Injury & Rehabilitation (3)*
    • RHS 3300: Evaluation and Care of Musculoskeletal Injuries: Lower Extremities (3)*
    • RHS 3301: Evaluation and Care of Musculoskeletal Injuries: Upper Extremities (3)*


    *These courses require prerequisites.

  • Sports Medicine Emphasis (option 2)


    This course of study is recommended for students who have NOT chosen Exercise Science as one of their three areas of emphasis.
