Revolution and Revision: From the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution
Dr. George Schild
The American Revolution produced two of the most important documents of Western political philosophy. The Declaration of Independence & the Constitution of 1787 added an extraordinary stability to the American political system. Some contemporaries feared, however, that this stability might come at the expense of liberty; others argued that stability was necessary for the preservation of liberty. The talk addresses the relationship between the two documents that have defined American political thinking for the last quarter millennium.
