Undergraduate Research Grants

 Long Term vs Short Term Grants

The Office of Undergraduate Research Offers two types of Research Grants: Long Term and Short Term. Please see the details below.

Long Term Grant Details

Long Term Grants support substantial, in-depth projects that normally span several semesters or the summer.

  • $3500 maximum request
  • Priority is given to projects that culminate in an honors thesis or some other capstone project
  • Students must be currently enrolled to apply
  • Up to $2500 of your total request can be allocated as a research scholarship
  • Funds will expire 2 years after the award date. All reallocations, funds transfers must be completed by the deadline

Research Scholarships (Only Long Term Grants)

  • Long Term Grant budgets may include a research scholarship, provided that you engage in the equivalent of ten full-time weeks of research. The Research Scholarship can cover research work completed during the summer
  • If you are requesting a Research Scholarship, please list all significant time commitments (5+ hours per week) that you expect to maintain over the duration of your project, for example, class and work schedules
  • $2500 maximum request

 Short Term Grant Details

Short Term Grants provide for smaller independent student projects, including preliminary or exploratory research.

  • $1000 maximum request
  • Students must be currently enrolled to apply
  • Budget may not include a research scholarship
  • Funds will expire 2 years after the award date. All reallocations, funds transfers must be completed by the deadline
