Take 20-Plus Credits

Students may register for a maximum of 20 credit hours per semester without special permission. You may register for more than 20 credit hours per semester if you meet certain guidelines.

Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better may petition to register for a maximum of 24 credit hours.

Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better may petition to register for additional credit hours beyond 24 credits.

How to Petition to Take Additional Credit Hours

  1. Fill out the Petition to Take Additional Hours of Credit (PDF) and save the form as a PDF. Download if needed.
  2. Send the completed form from your Weber State email account to the chair of your department and dean of your college for approval if your credit hour increase request falls between 20-24 credit hours. If you are requesting to take more than 24 credit hours for the semester, then you will need to retrieve a third signature from the Vice President of Student Access and Success in addition to the other signatures.
  3. Submit the form in one of two ways:
    • From your Weber State email account as an attached PDF to registration@weber.edu
    • In person at the Registrar's Office in the Student Services Center, Room 102. You must have a valid picture identification.

Once the maximum credit hour limit has been increased, our office will communicate that information to you, and you will be able to register for your additional class(es).
